On Thursday 21 October Churcher's welcomed parents and friends to a pared down annual Speech Day and Senior Prize Giving with Lower and Upper Sixth form students receiving their awards.Their extraordinary achievements recognised in a particularly challenging year.

Michael Gallagher, Chairman of Governors hosted the ceremony with Sophie Kinsella, world renowned author, as Guest of Honour.  After the prize giving, Sophie talked about her rise to fame through a rather circuitous route having intially studied Music at New College, Oxford University. She switched to Politics, Philosophy and Economics, worked as a financial journalist upon graduating from University before turning to fiction.  Sophie has sold 45 million copies of her books in over 60 countries worldwide, which have been translated into more than 40 languages - two of her books have been made into films.  It was an inspiring speech, that encouraged the pupils to have broad horizons and not to be frightened of changing direction as you never know where it might lead...
